Lake
Almanor is a four-season playground in beautiful Plumas County-Feather
River Country. Land of a hundred lakes and a thousand miles of streams
and majestic pine forests…a sportsman’s paradise.
Located in Northern California at 4,500
foot elevation where the Sierra Nevada Range and the Cascade Range
meet, Lake Almanor is 13 miles long, 6 miles wide and has more than
52 miles of shoreline with crystal clear water and beautiful scenery.
Major highways provide easy access throughout the area.
Often called “Northern California’s
Hidden Jewel”, Lake Almanor is the gateway to Mt. Lassen and
Lassen Volcanic National Park. Nearby the charming communities of
Chester and Westwood (one of the legendary historic timber towns
where Paul Bunyan and his Blue Ox Babe lived) offer a full range
of amenities.
The waters of Lake Almanor are uncrowded
with summer lake surface temperatures of about 75 degrees. The lake
is Plumas County’s largest lake and is known to be one of
the best fishing lakes in California.

Activities
• Year-round fishing in California’s best lake for Rainbow
and German Brown Trout. Catfish, Small mouth Bass and King Salmon
are also plentiful.
• Water-skiing, jet skiing, sailing, parasailing,
and boating are available.
• Swim in the clear, clean waters of Lake Almanor
with an average summer water temperature of 70-75 degrees.
• Golf in the High Sierra amid stately pines
and roaming deer. There are three nearby golf courses including
a new public golf course.
• Endless network of horseback riding and hiking
trails.
• Winter offers snowmobiling and cross-country
skiing over miles of historic old logging roads around the basin.
A new ski resort is planned nearby.
• Abundant wildlife…Osprey, Bald Eagles,
Mule and Black Tail Deer, Squirrels, Ducks, Geese and other friendly
critters of the forest make for excellent photographic opportunities.
• Easy drive to Lassen Volcanic National Park
and Burney Falls. Reno is only two hours away.
